Definitely a required step in the process. Offers mainly non binding suggestions. My 2 cents…a lightweight bit of paper shuffling.
I work in the construction industry everyday. Most of the necessary rules already exist. Just about every piece of safety equipment already exists.

There must be a solid jobsite requirement to use all the available safety gear at the right time.
Managers must absolutely insist that the workers they are responsible for ..use all known safety precautions. People get too buddy/ buddy …or just plain lazy….or… “safety costs too much”.

Seen it all.

Workers…wear the safety gear…do smart things. Go home alive.

Managers….insist on safe approaches to the work.
If everyone blows past all the warning signs, safety procedures and rules…then getting fired might be the best thing that ever happened to you on that job. There’s no amount of hourly pay, or performance bonus that will replace a life…or a broken body.

We are still fighting for the memory of Sam Fitzpatrick. Killed at a Kiewit corporation project in 2009. I don’t think we will get ” justice”…that ship has sailed. But….we will get to the truth.

Refuse unsafe work
Go home safe.
