TORONTO — A green building “visionary” from Quebec was a big winner as the °ϲʿ2023 Green Building Council unveiled the 2024 winners of its , honouring innovative projects, teams and individuals making positive contributions to °ϲʿ2023’s green building sector.
The Quebecer was Josee Lupien, president and founder of , who was announced as the recipient of the CAGBC’s 2024 Lifetime Achievement award.
The awards were presented during the conference closing gala held in Toronto recently.
“This year’s winners represent the best of °ϲʿ2023’s sustainability leaders and the most innovative green and low-carbon projects in the country,” stated Thomas Mueller, CAGBC’s president and CEO, in a release. “Together they prove that green buildings are better buildings with reduced carbon emissions, enhanced resiliency and long-term business value.”
Lupien is the co-founder of Vertima, a company that helps guide environmental strategies to improve the environmental performance of businesses, products, services and buildings. Vertima has completed more than 110 certified projects, including many certified under LEED and the Zero Carbon Building Standards.
“LEED fellow Josee Lupien is a visionary and pioneer who, over her 20-plus year career, has advanced green building in Quebec and °ϲʿ2023,” Mueller said. “She has been a driving force for CAGBC in Quebec, a stalwart supporter of LEED and our Zero Carbon Building Standards.”
