{"id":392251,"date":"2024-09-05T01:00:41","date_gmt":"2024-09-05T05:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canada.constructconnect.com\/?p=392251"},"modified":"2024-09-04T23:30:35","modified_gmt":"2024-09-05T03:30:35","slug":"b-c-provides-standardized-designs-for-quicker-multi-unit-housing-builds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canada.constructconnect.com\/joc\/news\/government\/2024\/09\/b-c-provides-standardized-designs-for-quicker-multi-unit-housing-builds","title":{"rendered":"B.C. provides standardized designs for quicker multi-unit housing builds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>VANCOUVER \u2013 The Government of British Columbia is providing free standardized designs to members of the public looking to build small-scale, multi-unit housing.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the designs are based on building blocks that can be mixed and matched, a release said, and include concepts for duplex, triplex, quadplex and townhouse designs along with a variety of roof shapes and exterior finishes to blend into existing neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom a historic investment in public housing to cracking down on speculators to cutting red tape for different forms of housing, our government is leaving no stone unturned to deliver more housing of all kinds for people everywhere. Set housing designs mean that people will be able to build more beautiful homes in their communities, faster than ever before,\u201d said B.C. Minister of Housing Ravi Kahlon in the release.<\/p>\n<p>Other designs include accessory dwelling units, such as laneway homes, and a fully adaptable cottage suitable for aging in place.<\/p>\n<p>Each design complies with the 2024 B.C. Building Code and can be customized for different lot sizes and configurations for use throughout the province.
